Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Ishan Kishan extended a helping hand to his teammate during the IPL 2026 season. The teammate’s revelation has now gone viral on social media.

Kishan’s Good Deeds

Kishan started the tournament as SRH’s captain in the absence of Pat Cummins. He laid a solid foundation, and Hyderabad eventually ended up qualifying for the playoffs.

Sakib Hussain, a right-arm pacer, made his IPL debut with SRH this year, picking 15 wickets in 11 games, thus finishing as a strong emerging player candidate.

Hussain’s Journey to the Big Leagues

However, Hussain’s journey to the big leagues was not easy. In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, he revealed struggling to afford proper cricket shoes. He used to wear roadside shoes worth ₹200-300 that would tear quickly, causing ankle injuries because he bowled without proper grip or spikes.

‘There was a time I did not have any shoes. I couldn’t even think about owning a pair of shoes that expensive. How could I wear shoes that cost Rs 12,000-15,000? The shoes bought off the roadside for Rs 200-300 wore out soon. The sole would tear. Without spikes, my foot kept slipping and my ankles got sprained many times,’ Hussain said.

Kishan’s Kindness

But when Ishan Kishan got to know of Hussain’s hardships, he immediately stepped in. Kishan apparently gifted 6-7 pairs of spike shoes worth ₹12,000-15,000 each to Sakib Hussain that he used throughout the IPL 2026 season.

‘I have 6 pair of spikes, currently. Ishan Bhaiya got them for me. Ishan told me he will get spikes for me and I told him Adipower from Adidas. So full season, I have been playing with the spikes he only got me,’ he added.

Kishan’s Humble Beginning

Ishan Kishan understood Hussain’s pain because he, too, had a humble beginning. Originating from the same state of Bihar, Kishan and his family struggled financially to support Kishan’s dream.

But his hard work and dedication turned him into a beast that is now ruling Indian cricket.

Ishan Kishan’s Successful Season

Apart from Sakib Hussain, Ishan Kishan also had a successful IPL 2026 season. He scored 602 runs in 15 games at an average of 40.13. He also hit six half-centuries and 32 sixes.

This is Kishan’s most successful IPL season, as this is the first time he has surpassed the 600-run mark in a single edition. Naturally, SRH benefitted from his sublime form and made it to the playoffs.

However, in the Eliminator game, Ishan Kishan wasted a good start as he was dismissed on 33 off 11 balls before Jofra Archer dismissed him to rattle SRH in a tough run chase.

Sunrisers Hyderabad got eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoffs after losing the Eliminator to Rajasthan Royals at Chandigarh. Batting first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unlocked his beast mode, hitting 97 off 29 balls.

His knock allowed RR to finish with a strong total of 243 as Dhruv Jurel also contributed with a half-century. On the other hand, SRH fumbled under pressure.

Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on a duck while Travis Head and Ishan Kishan couldn’t convert good starts. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy carried on the fight, but not for too long, as Jofra Archer picked 3 wickets.

Srh got bowled out on 196 to lose by 47 runs, and RR will now advance to Qualifier 2, where they will meet Gujarat Titans.
