CSK, MI Release Statement As RCB Come Scarily Close To IPL Trophy Count

Fanbase rivalry has become one of the most interesting aspects of the Indian Premier League, and it was once again on display after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted the IPL 2026 trophy on May 31 with a convincing victory over the Gujarat Titans.

MI And CSK Congratulate RCB After IPL Final Win

Following RCB’s title triumph, several rival franchises, including MI and CSK, took to their official social media handles to congratulate the Virat Kohli-starrer side on a remarkable achievement.

Among the congratulatory messages, those from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) attracted special attention. The two franchises, which have won the IPL title five times each, share a long-standing rivalry with RCB and possess some of the largest fanbases in the league.

Their supporters have often been involved in intense debates and social media exchanges throughout IPL 2026 and over the course of the tournament’s history.

RCB Defend Their Title In Ahmedabad

Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully defended their IPL crown with a composed five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The final saw RCB produce a complete team performance. Gujarat Titans struggled early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), Josh Hazlewood (2/37), and Rasikh Salam (3/27) dismantled their top order, restricting them to 155/8 despite a fighting unbeaten 50 from Washington Sundar.

Chasing 156, RCB got off to a flying start through Venkatesh Iyer’s 32 off 16 balls before Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a match-winning unbeaten 75 off 42 deliveries, striking nine fours and three sixes.

Tim David chipped in with a valuable 24, while Jitesh Sharma remained unbeaten on 11 as RCB reached 161/5 in just 18 overs. Kohli’s masterclass and RCB’s disciplined bowling attack proved decisive in securing their second consecutive IPL title.

On the morning of June 1, the Mumbai Indians congratulated RCB at around 8:00 AM by posting a picture of the champions celebrating their victory on the franchise’s official social media account.

Alongside the image, MI shared a message praising RCB for their successful campaign and title defence.

“Congratulations @RCBTweets on winning #TATAIPL 2026” MI wrote.

Chennai Super Kings, however, were much quicker to react.

Soon after the final concluded, at approximately 11:35 PM on May 31, CSK posted a congratulatory message that read, “Winning back-to-back is always a special feeling. Congrats, RCB, and welcome to the club.”

RCB also responded warmly to CSK’s message. Replying to the post, the Bengaluru franchise wrote, “Thanks, neighbours. Looking forward to our games next year.”

The exchange was appreciated by many fans, who enjoyed the mutual respect shown between the two teams despite their fierce on-field rivalry.
