PBKS vs MI: Naman Dhir Registers Unwanted Record After Dropping Seventh Catch in IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians player Naman Dhir continues to struggle on the field in the IPL 2026. In the PBKS vs MI match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday, he dropped PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh’s catch early in the match. It was his seventh dropped chance in the campaign, which is the most by a fielder in the 19th season.

  • Shashank Singh – 6
  • Jos Buttler, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Suyash Sharma, Shivang Kumar – 4

Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and decided to field first against the home franchise, PBKS. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings for Punjab while MI skipper gave Deepak Chahar the new ball.

Bumrah bowled the second over from the opposite end and was unlucky when Dhir did not take Singh’s catch in the slip cordon. Arya was the first batter to be dismissed, amassing 22 runs off 17 balls before Chahar got rid of him. Prabhsimran joined hands with Cooper Connolly, with the two adding important runs for the second wicket, taking the score over the 100-run mark.

Prabhsimran completed another fifty in this edition of the cash-rich league. He managed 57 runs in 31 deliveries but failed to handle the brilliance of Shardul Thakur. The MI all-rounder then dismissed PBKS skipper for 4 runs, and Raj Bawa sent back Connolly, who made 21.

Thakur’s third wicket of the match came in the form of Suryansh Shedge, who managed just 8 runs. Bosch got his first scalp in the form of Shashank Singh before Shardul returned to end Marco Jansen’s stay in the middle, taking his tally to four scalps.
